Both Rohit and Virat have announced their retirements from test cricket. It was sort of expected after their poor showing over the past 2-3 years, especially Kohli. They must have had severe self-doubt about their ability to perform in England. But it looks like Rohit was pushed out by BCCI by making it public that he was not going to the captain for the England tour.
Rohit's lazy elegance and Kohli was aggression complemented each other in their primes.
My personal best of Kohli was the 119 & 96 in SA in India's first test post-Tendulkar that assured everyone that Indian batting was in good hands. I would rate Kohli's captaincy higher than his batting since he showed the world that India can get 20 wickets with their fast bowlers and not have to solely rely on rank turners to win matches. 40 wins of 68 matches is up there on the list of best all-time captains.
